BarkBox April 2013 Review

Contents: April's small & cute BarkBox included 6 different items.

Unboxing April 2013 BarkBox

1. ABO Gear GroomMitt, pack of 10 XL mitts

Retail value: $6.99

These bath mitts are an easy alternative to cleaning your dog. Our dog does not like being bathed, so these will be great for quick clean-ups. I like that these mitts are 100% biodegradable. Our dog will like that these mitts can be warmed up in the microwave. These were made in China.

Retail value: $7.99

These toys glow in the dark and float, so these are appropriate for night-time and water-time play. These durable ball toys come in 3 sizes, with the small size measuring 1.75" in diameter. These were made in Taiwan and made from non-toxic materials.

Retail value: $9.49

These all natural treats are made from USA sourced duck. I appreciate that these treats are free of grain, gluten, artificial fillers, colorings, preservatives and by-products. These treats are about 6" in length and can easily be torn into smaller pieces. Finally, Etta Says treats has been in operation in the USA since 2005.

Estimated retail value: $1.99

This treat comes from the same company that made the duck jerky. It is a combination of rawhide and USA sourced duck. Our dog was sniffing at this treat incessantly, so I gave in to his puppy-eyes and let him devour it.

Estimated retail value: $5.40

This was a bonus item in the April BarkBox. These liquid vitamins include glucosamine and omega 3 fatty acids for joint and heart health. Licks claims that these liquid vitamins have a 98% absorption rate, compared to 20-30% absorption rate with pills and enhanced dry treats. I appreciate that these are made from all natural ingredients. I noticed that the "best by" date is May 2013, so if you received these, use or discard these within the next month.

Retail value: $6.99

Our dog isn't a puppy and as you can see on the upper right hand corner of the packaging, he was much more interested in the cardboard packaging than the toy itself. This toy will be donated to a local dog shelter. It is appropriate small to medium dogs who are light to moderate chewers. It is dishwasher-safe. I appreciate that it is made of food-grade silicone and is free from chemicals and phthalates. This toy is 8" long and 7/8" in diameter. This was made in China.

Summary:

Total estimated retail value: $38.85

Product tally:
Edibles = 3
Toys = 2
Hygiene = 1

Verdict:
Size: I was happy that we received 5 full size items and 1 sample size item!

Products: We received a good variety of high-quality products this month. Our dog is most excited about the Etta Says treats (he's already devoured the ultimate! crunchy duck chew). I am most excited about the ABO Gear GroomMitt. I appreciate that all the edible goods are made in the USA.

Value: Good - the 6-month subscription is $18 per month and we received over $38 worth of products. Our dog loves BarkBoxThe high-quality products and 10% shelter/rescue donation makes BarkBox a great subscription box!
