This April Gluten-Free Conscious box review is quite delayed. I thought that this Gluten-Free box was better than the April Vegan box. However, I was still slightly disappointed in the box contents. I procrastinated while writing this review because I prefer to not write negative reviews on products and subscription boxes. However, I reasoned that it would be helpful for readers to see the contents of the April Gluten-Free Conscious box to determine if this subscription box is a good fit for their lifestyle. These opinions are solely my own and keep in mind that the same products/subscription box may have been loved by others.

Birchbox and Caudalie Event

Last night, NYC Birchbox subscribers were invited to a summer shopping event hosted by Birchbox and Caudalie at the Caudalie West Village boutique. The West Village boutique is Caudalie's very first store and it is a beautiful, inviting space. 

I was thrilled to receive an invitation to this event because I've tried and loved several Caudalie products. One of the reasons that I love Caudalie products is that I don't have to worry about the ingredients - I appreciate that Caudalie products do not contain parabens, phenoxyethanols, phthalates and other chemicals. Product Review: Jack Black Intense Therapy Skin Protectant & Sunscreen Lip Balm

Like many women, I have dozens of lip products. One of my recent favorites (featured in my Winter Skincare Essentials and Beauty Favorites) is the Jack Black lip balm. I started using this lip balm this past winter and now, it is always within an arm's reach in my purse. Jack Black products are marketed towards men; however, I gave this lip balm a try because I had read rave reviews about it from other bloggers. I picked the grapefruit & ginger scent because I love citrus scents and I prefer the zing of grapefruit & ginger over the herbal combination of lemon & chamomile.

Popsugar Must Have Box May 2013 Promo Code For 50% Off!

I just received an e-mail from Popsugar must have box that included a 50% off promo code! Popsugar must have box is a lifestyle subscription box that is filled with items that are hand-selected by the Popsugar editors - previous boxes have included beauty products, scarves, spa wraps, home decor, books, chocolates and fitness items. Each Popsugar must have box includes a variety of full-size products worth over $100. A monthly Popsugar must have box subscription usually costs $35. The promo code brought the grand total to $19.05 (including $1.55 NY state tax because I live in NYC).

Skincare Stash: Toner Inventory

This post is solely on my stash of toners. Check out my stash of facial cleansers here. I'll write separate posts for exfoliators, masks, moisturizers and other skincare products. For reference, I have acne-prone combination-oily skin. 

I apply toner after cleansing my face, both in the morning and evening. The main function of a toner is to restore the pH of your skin, which preps skin for the rest of your skincare routine. Also, if you apply toner with a cotton pad (as opposed to spraying it directly onto your face), this can help remove any excess residue, such as make-up or dead skin cells.

This haul includes products from 3 companies that I have learned about and have been interested in recently. Lately, I started reading the ingredient labels of skincare products, just like I do with food products. Currently, I do not solely use natural skincare and beauty products. However, I appreciate when products are free of parabens, petrochemicals and synthetic chemicals. Eminence and Farmhouse Fresh products do not contain parabens or sulfates. I read great reviews of all these products prior to purchasing, so I am excited to start incorporating these products into my routine!
