Birthday Freebies Haul (a.k.a. how to get *free* beauty products, food and clothes during your birthday month)

October is my birthday month and I turned 30 this year! I spent the last few years in graduate school, so, I appreciate a good freebie (follow me on twitter @CautiouslyOpRev if you like giveaways). Beauty, food and lifestyle products are my favorite types of freebies. Luckily, several brands give out birthday freebies. Please note that some of these birthday freebies are only available at retail stores and/or require a purchase.

This entire birthday haul only cost $8 ($6 for the two Joie knit camisoles & $2 for the Godiva pumpkin spice pecan bark)!

Travel Size Thursday: Delizioso, Estee Lauder, Kerastase, Kiehl's and Nastassja

@BeautyEmpties recently started #travelsizethursday on Instagram. The premise of this activity is that you pick 5 samples to try for the week and post your results. I loved the idea because it's a great way to use up my stash of samples. Also, I love reading the results from each of the participants at the end of each week.

Here are my 5 recent picks for #travelsizethursday:

Skincare Stash: Eye Cream

This post is solely on my stash of eye creams. I'll write separate posts for exfoliators, masks, moisturizers and other skincare products. For reference, I have acne-prone combination-oily skin.

I would like to age gracefully, so eye creams are a regular part of my skincare routine. Eye creams can address specific skin concerns in the delicate eye area such as puffiness, dark circles, fine lines, wrinkles, dehydration and lack of firmness. I favor eye creams that address puffiness and dark circles.

My morning and evening skincare step-wise routine:
1. Cleanser
2. Toner
3. Serum
4. Eye cream

Skincare Stash: Serums Inventory

This post is solely on my stash of serums. Check out my stash of facial cleansers and toners. I'll write separate posts for exfoliators, masks, moisturizers and other skincare products. For reference, I have acne-prone combination-oily skin.

Serums are concentrated, specialized skin care products. Serums contain smaller molecules than moisturizers. So, compared to moisturizers, serums can penetrate deeper layers of skin. Finally, serums can address specific skin concerns such as fine lines, hyperpigmentation and decreased collagen.

I apply a serum after cleaning and applying toner to my face, both in the morning and evening. I favor serums that address hyper-pigmentation and dullness.

Skincare Stash: Facial Cleanser Inventory

I am a self-professed skincare junkie. Although we live in a tiny NYC apartment, in which storage space is a rare commodity, I somehow have a significant stash of skincare. This post is solely on my stash of facial cleansers. I'll write separate posts for exfoliators, masks, moisturizers and other skincare products. For reference, I have acne-prone combination-oily skin.

February Empties

One of the topics that I enjoy the most on blogs and youtube videos are monthly "empties". It's a summary of products that folks have used up. It usually includes a brief description of the product and whether or not it is worth re-purchasing. Without further ado, here are my February empties.
