Blush Mystery Beauty Box March 2013 Review

I accidentally (*read story at the end of this post) received a blush mystery box this past week.

Blush's mystery beauty box is one of the latest beauty boxes to hit the market. It was such a big hit that the first box sold out in 3 hours! The Blush mystery beauty box includes skin care, hair care and make-up products that are hand-picked by their panel of beauty experts. Each Blush mystery beauty box features mostly full-size and some travel-size products that are worth at least $100. Finally, shipping is free for the Blush mystery beauty box.

Contents:
Retail value: $40

According to DermStore:
"This rich and cream foam from 3LAB removes impurities from the face with gentle exfoliation. Vitamin E microbeads burst open upon application to nourish and repair damaged epidermal cells. Extracts of green tea and shea butter soothe, soften and replace the essential barrier of moisture that protects your skin. With deep purification of pores, blemishes are cleared, as sodium hyaluronate hydrates. The result is clean, smooth skin with a comfortable finish."

2. Burt's Bees Baby Bee Nourishing Lotion in Original, 6 oz

 Retail value: $7.99

According to DermStore:
"Burt's Bees Baby Bee Nourishing Lotion - Original naturally comforts and nurtures your little one's delicate skin, leaving it smooth and soft. Emollient-rich buttermilk soothes and promotes healthy skin as sunflower seed and shea butter deliver long-lasting nourishment and hydration. Hypoallergenic, pediatrician-tested and 99% natural formula. "

 Retail value: $12 (sale price), $39 (normally)

According to DermStore:
"Exuviance Rejuvenating Treatment Masque revitalizes the skin's appearance for a youthful complexion without visible fine lines, wrinkles and large pores. Alpha and polyhydroxy acids refine to improve the tone and texture of the skin. Vitamins A, C, E and a Pro Vitamin B Complex moisturize and protect the skin from environmental damage."

Retail value: $22.40 (sale price), $28 (normally)

According to DermStore:
"Raw Natural Beauty Raw Color Pure Elements Eyeshadow Duo contains a light and dark shade eyeshadow that instantly add depth to your eyes. Both shades can be combined to create your own custom look or worn alone. The portable compact has a built in mirror and fits perfectly in your purse."

Retail value: $50

According to DermStore:
"Intelligent Beauty Labs Rescue Reparative Baobab Oil Hair Serum restores a healthy texture and shine to hair weakened by styling and coloring. This ultra-light and luxuriously fragrant serum absorbs quickly into wet or dry hair to smooth strands while eliminating frizz. Baobab oil provides essential vitamins A, D, E and F to help hydrate, strengthen and protect."
Unfortunately, the hair serum had spilled while in transit and had spilled onto the Raw natural beauty eye shadow duo.

Summary:

Estimated retail value = $132-165

Product tally:
Hair = 1
Make-up = 1
Skincare = 3

Verdict:
Products: I received a good variety of products this month. I was disappointed that 2 products were damaged. I am most excited to try the Exuviance rejuvenating treatment masque and Rescue reparative baobab oil hair serum.

Size: All 5 products are full-size.

Value: Great - A recurring monthly subscription costs $24.95 and a single month's subscription box costs $34.95. I received $132-165 worth of products.

Do you subscribe to the Blush mystery beauty box? What do you think of this month's box?

If you have never ordered from DermStore, Blush or HairEnvy and would like a $10 referral, leave me a comment or e-mail me at cautiouslyoptimisticreviews@gmail.com. We would both receive a $10 gift card to use towards any purchase of $30 or more.

* I did not order this box, but I did have it in my shopping cart last month when I was considering what to buy with my beautyfix $25 code. Unfortunately, when I called Blush, the customer service rep did not know why this order was generated. When the rep I was asked if I wanted to keep the products, I let her know that I would be happy to return everything 'as is' and explained that 2 items were damaged. So, she told me to discard the items and that I would receive a full refund. I had a terrific experience with the Blush customer service rep.

Disclosure: I am not a sponsor (paid or unpaid) for Blush.
