Birchbox March 2013

Unboxing the March 2013 Birchbox

MAKE eyeshadow and primer

1. MAKE eyeshadow in great lakes, 0.03 oz

Great Lakes is described as a 'medium blue with a gray shimmering undertone.'
Full size cost: $18
Sample cost: $5.46

How it works (from Birchbox):
"The hypoallergenic formula is free of oils, parabens, and fragrances. Vitamins C and E provide antioxidant protection for the delicate skin around your eye, while jet-milled pigments mean long-lasting color."

2. MAKE face primer broad spectrum SPF 30, 0.18 oz

Full size cost: $30
Sample cost: $5.39

How it works (from Birchbox):
"Wearing this base is like traveling around with your own professional lighting crew: Light-diffusing microspheres create a soft-focus effect, diminishing imperfections. Nylon-12 fills in fine lines and wrinkles, citamin E reduces the formation of free radicals, and SPF 30 shields skin from UVA and UVB rays. Finally, moisturizing squalane delivers antioxidants and protects against additional environmental damage."

3.Oscar Blandi hair lift mousse, 1 oz

Full size cost: $23
Sample cost: $3.65

How it works (from Birchbox):
"This lightweight styling aid’s whipped formula instantly binds to hair, giving it thickness and body. Power ingredient sodium hyaluronate pumps moisture into flat, thirsty strands, making them appear fuller, healthier, and more youthful. Anti-static agents prevent flyaways, while copolymers shield strands from heat damage."

4. Whish shave crave shaving cream in blueberry scent, 0.75 fl oz

Full size cost: $20
Sample cost: $2.93

How it works (from Birchbox):
"A moisturizing base of omega-rich squalene, organic shea butter, jojoba oil, and coconut oil protects against the redness and irritation associated with shaving, while organic green tea extracts infuse skin with antioxidants."

Extra: Madewell for Birchbox emery board, full size

Full size cost: $5
Sample cost: $5

Summary:

Total box value: $22.43

Verdict:
Size: I am happy that all of the products are deluxe-size with a bonus full-size emery board.

Products: I received a good variety of products this month.  I am most excited to try the Whish shaving cream and MAKE eyeshadow. Also, I love that Birchbox featured MAKE, a new beauty company that donates one-third of it's sales to charity.

Value: Good - I paid $10 ($5-6 if you factor in the Birchbox reward points for completing the product feedback surveys) and received over $20 worth of products.
