Bonjour Jolie Box!

I was lucky enough to win a Bonjour Jolie giveaway from Ramblings of a Suburban Mom! Bonjour Jolie is a mother-daughter company that provides discrete, monthly period subscription boxes for women. You get to select 30 of your favorite feminine products - including tampons, pads and pantyliners. Bonjour Jolie carries mainstream brands like Tampax, Kotex and Always as well as lesser known brands such as Softcup and NatraCare. In addition to the feminine products, Bonjour Jolie also includes edible and non-edible goodies to pamper yourself. A monthly subscription is only $16 plus shipping and handling ($5 in the US and $10 in Canada). 

Unboxing the Bonjour Jolie Grand Opening Box

Contents: The Bonjour Jolie box that I received had the theme 'A Grand Opening, a Box of New Relationships and New Beginnings'. My box included 11 different items (9 items & 2 feminine products). The box contents are divided into 4 categories: gift, edibles, pampering and feminine products.

The Gift:
1. Stila Mini Lip Glaze in Apricot, 0.03 fl oz.

Estimated sample cost: $8.25

I have used Stila lip glazes in the past and I remember that these lip glosses had a shiny finish, but the texture was a bit thick and sticky. I will put this on my swap list because I am trying to eliminate duplicates of products and I don't need another sticky lip gloss.

The Edibles:
1. 479 Fleur de Sel Caramel Popcorn, 1 oz

Retail value: $1.99

This popcorn was fantastic - the popcorn itself was fluffy and it was coated with a thin crunchy layer of caramel. The sweetness of the caramel was balanced by the light sprinkling of sea salt. I appreciate that this popcorn does not contain GMOs or trans fats. Also, it is gluten-free, so it is appropriate for those with celiac disease. Would absolutely re-purchase and recommend.

Here is what Bonjour Jolie says about 479 popcorn:

"Handmade, artisan crafted sweet popcorn with crunchy caramel sprinkled with delicate flakes of sea salt."

2. Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Squares, 6 squares

Estimated sample cost: $2.99

Chocolate is one of my favorite indulgences. However, I tend to prefer milk chocolate over dark chocolate. Also, I don't like when fruit is combined with chocolate (ex. I eat chocolate covered strawberries in 2 steps - first I eat all the chocolate and then I eat the strawberry separately). So these squares don't appeal to me, but they serve as a reminder that I should pick up some of my favorite Ghiradelli chocolate - the caramel milk chocolate squares!

Here is what Bonjour Jolie says about Ghirardelli chocolate:

3. Pukka Organic Teas, 5 bags

Estimated sample cost: $1.75

I drink several cups of tea a day, so this edible is right up my alley!  I was given 3 flavors: chamomile & vanilla, detox and three fennel. These flavors are unique and I will enjoy trying out this tea!

The Pampering:
1. Indigo Wild Zum JuJucuzzi Geranium Bath Salts, 1.5 oz

Estimated sample cost: $1.75

I enjoy taking baths, but it's hard for me to put aside that time for myself. These bath salts serve as a reminder that it is important to take the time to pamper yourself! I appreciate that these bath salts are made with natural ingredients.

Here is what Bonjour Jolie says about Indigo Wild bath salts:

"Handmade in small batches from all natural ingredients you can pronounce! Made with natural, sea salt crystals, dendritic salt, essential oils, shea butter, meadowfoam seed oil extract, and rosemary extract. Relax in a bath filled with natural goodness!"

2. Earth Therapeutics Recover-E Cumber Eye Pads

Oops - these eye pads were missing from my box! Normally, I would contact the company about missing items, but I don't really mind since I won this box as a giveaway prize.

Here is what Bonjour Jolie says about Earth Therapeutics eye pads:

"Place one pad over each eye, lean back and relax. Leave the pads on for about 10-30 minutes. For maximum refreshment, refrigerate the pads."

3. Hempz Age Defying Lotion, 0.5 oz

Estimated sample cost: $1.50

Recently I've seen several products that include hemp as an ingredient (including products from Conscious Box and Klutchclub). My skin doesn't necessarily need an 'age-defying' product at this point, so this facial lotion will go on my swap list.

Here is what Bonjour Jolie says about Hempz lotion:

"Enriched with 100% pure organic hemp seed oil and blended with natural extracts to provide dramatic skin hydration and nourishment to help improve the health and condition of skin"

4. Pureology Shampoo & Conditioner Set, 0.34 oz each

Estimated sample cost: $1

I don't dye my hair, so products for colour-treated hair aren't necessary for me. I appreciate that these products are sulfate-free. These hair products will go on my swap list. 

Here is what Bonjour Jolie says about Pureology hair products:

"Complete line of hair care products made with highly concentrated ZeroSulfate ingredients and a exclusive AntiFadeComplex to help colour-treated hair retain it's fresh-from-the-salon vibrancy."

5. Lavender Sachet, 1 oz.

This lavender sachet is a cute addition to the box. Lavender has been proven to promote relaxation, so it's a perfect fit for this type of subscription box.

6. Advil, 4 200 mg tablets

Estimated sample cost: $1

Advil is something that you can request as an 'addition' to the normal box. I like that these tablets are in individual foil packets so that you can keep these discretely in your purse.

The Goods:
30 NatraCare feminine products

Estimated cost: ~$10

I was happy to see that Bonjour Jolie had several different brands of feminine products to choose from. I have never tried NatraCare feminine products, so I thought that this would be a perfect opportunity to try their products. NatraCare products are made with 100% certified organic cotton and are free of chlorine, perfumes and synthetics.

Summary:

Total box value: ~$31

Verdict: 

Size: I am happy that I received 8 deluxe-size samples and 1 bonus foil sample product.

Products: I received a great variety of products this month. Almost all of the brands are new to me - the 'discovery' aspect is one of the many reasons why I love subscription boxes. I was most excited about the 479 fleur de sel caramel popcorn. Also, I am happy to try the uniquely flavored bags of tea. However, I am a bit disappointed that the eye pads were missing from the box because I would have loved to try that product!

Value: N/A - This box was a giveaway prize. Part of the 'value' of this particular subscription box is that I don't have to worry about running out of my favorite feminine products, which may very well be 'priceless'. The calculated value was about $31 and a monthly subscription is $16 plus shipping and handling.
